SEEING WITH THE BODY: A Creative Movement Session

We see so much with our eyes but how often do we stop to “see” with our body?

Join us in a 90-minute creative movement session where we will explore the connection between art, movement, body, and our inner landscape.

We will use familiar, and perhaps unfamiliar, artworks as prompts for exploring integral elements of art, such as space, light, colour and rhythm. The invitation is to become aware of these elements and translate the images and feelings the art may evoke into movement, allowing the art to take physical form.

Through the gentle guidance of interdisciplinary practices—including breath awareness, sensory attunement, and movement improvisation—we will look inward to investigate how visual art resonates within our bodies.

We will use other art expressions, including writing and drawing, to reflect on the movement and can spend time sharing our experiences.

This workshops aims to activate deep listening to our creative selves and is designed for participants looking to expand their movement reptoire, connect with intuition, and explore new pathways of creative expression. Play and self-enquiry are highly encouraged!

No previous experience of dance or movement is required.

About the facilitators:

Lexi (she/they) is a registered Movement Psychotherapist & Artist. They have a background in the creative arts including music and movement studies and has worked in mental health services supporting adults and young people over the last 9 years.

Eunice (she/her) is a long-standing multidisciplinary mover drawing on yoga and dance/movement improvisation as her main practices. She is a senior yoga facilitator, educator and mentor, and a registered Movement Psychotherapist with experience in adult’s and children’s mental health settings.
