About MFH

Movement for Healing offers support through specialised yoga for women impacted by gender-based violence and marginalisation.

We run classes and workshops in the community, and work in partnership with charities and organisations to broaden access to wellbeing practices.

We believe that healing comes in community and our out-reach classes are always held in small groups.

We run ‘profit-for-purpose’ classes for the public to fundraise so our participants can access our courses for free or at reduced costs.

Alongside the out-reach programme, we support yoga teachers and people in helping professions through training or service development to encourage spaces to be as welcoming, inclusive and accessible as possible.

Movement for Healing’s values are rooted in trauma-informed care and financially accessible and culturally inclusive approaches to support.

Background

Movement for Healing is a trauma-informed wellbeing programme established in 2017 to support survivors of gender-based violence through yoga and holistic practices. Its work draws on experience developed in direct client work with survivors of gender-based violence, community health and post-conflict settings, including clinical programmes with women and children affected by the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Grounded in trauma-informed principles, the programme promotes ethical and supportive wellbeing spaces for survivors through education, training, and community-led practice.
